Call for Illustrators
Next Deadline: December 15, 2019
"UsArts Illustration Now: Borders and Lines" book and exhibition in New York.
The Espejo Organization for the Arts (EOarts) and Us for the Arts (UsArts) are hosting an open call for international illustrators working and living in the United States. EOarts and UsAarts will produce a book and an exhibition, held in New York City, that will include selected works of foreign-born illustrators whose art speaks to issues of immigration, displacement, diaspora, assimilation, xenophobia, and other realities faced by migrants in the US. We encourage illustrators to draw from their personal experiences, humor, and critical views about this matter. The aim of this project is to include as many visual stories, positive and negative, about the current migrant situation. We want to celebrate the cultural diversity of the US, while bringing awareness to the complexity of issues that immigrants have to deal with. Please, send us your best work!
1. Up to 5 illustrations in jpeg format, each no bigger than 1M.
2. Statement: In a couple of paragraphs, describe your vision and the subject you chose to depict in your illustrations and why.
3. Short BIO: Country of origin, the city where you live, the time you have been living in the US, and a summary of your career achievements.
Chosen illustrators will be required to pay $25 to cover project management costs.
